What will happen on my first appointment?

What will happen on my first appointment?

So you’ve made your first appointment and you have a few questions about it! Here’s what usually happens. The first thing we need to do is get some basic information about you, i.e. name, address, DOB, contact details etc. We will then work through your case history, which should take approximately 15 to 20 mins, depending on your individual personal circumstances. We will discuss the problem you have come for as well as any relevant past/present medical problems. We will also talk about your general health and any operations or illnesses you may have had. If you are taking any medications, it’s good for us to know what these are and what your prescription is. Also, if you have any results from x-rays, scans etc. these can be useful too.

Once we have completed the paperwork we will ask you to disrobe so we can carry out a visual assessment of your standing posture and we may get you to carry out some simple movements. Sometimes these may cause your problem to be a little more painful, just while we test to see what bits hurt. We promise to keep this to a minimum. From here we will usually ask you to lie on the treatment couch and will carry out some more tests and then provide treatment. This should, in the main, be a pleasant experience, but may be a little uncomfortable on occasion.

At the end of the treatment we will ask you to get dressed again and discuss our findings, your treatment plan and any practical advice, such as exercises and lifestyle modifications, with you.
