How many treatments will I need?

The quick and easy answer to this is ‘as many as it takes’ or ‘how long’s a piece of string’? However, when you’re spending your hard earned cash, it’s always good and prudent to have an idea of the overall cost you might expect.

At OOC, our aim is to get you back to your best (whatever that may be) as quickly as possible because, let’s face it, if we get you better quicker, we both win: you feel happy and, as a consequence, you’re more likely to recommend us to others. It’s a win-win for everybody.

Saying that, it’s always going to depend on a number of factors, such as:

  • Is it a new or old problem?
  • How severe is it?
  • Has it responded to previous treatments?
  • Are you generally healthy or are there underlying health issues?
  • What’s your diet like etc.

At the end of your first visit we will always try to give you a realistic indication of what we think we can or can’t do for you. This will also include a best guess (otherwise known as a prognosis) of the expected outcomes and the number of treatments required to achieve this. None of us are Nostradamus, so it is a best guess! However, this best guess is based on 5 years of osteopathic education and many years of experience within the team, so we are confident we’ll give you the best prognosis possible. On top of this we, will re-evaluate your progress on each visit and provide you with a continued update on our thoughts and findings. This way you will always know where you are on your treatment journey.

There is one more thing to say regarding the number of treatments you need. You know your body better than anyone else, therefore you will know if you are getting better or not! It is that simple, most of the time. Whether you are being treated for a new (acute), an old (chronic) problem, or indeed for general maintenance, you will know if you feel better or worse. Plus if we feel you are not making the progress we feel you should be, we will NOT keep you coming in for treatment, but will look for the best option for you, which may mean we refer you to another therapy, clinic or individual. After all, this is about your health, not our ‘egos’.
